Contract Event Decor Seamstress (Project-Based) About the Role We're looking to build relationships with talented independent seamstresses who enjoy creating custom pieces for one-of-a-kind event installations. Our projects often require unique textile solutions that can't be purchased off the shelf—from fitted fabric covers and upholstery to custom draping and installation elements. Work is assigned on a project-by-project basis, making this a great opportunity for freelancers looking to supplement their existing business. Typical Projects Custom fabric covers for event structures and mechanics Upholstery for bars, stages, and rental inventory Tent draping and ceiling swags Pipe-and-drape treatments and backdrops Decorative textile elements for luxury events Protective transport covers for fabrication pieces Alterations and modifications to existing inventory One-of-a-kind custom sewing projects based on design specifications What We're Looking For Strong sewing and construction skills with professional-quality workmanship Experience working from measurements, sketches, or prototypes Ability to recommend construction methods that balance beauty, durability, and functionality Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship Ability to meet agreed-upon production deadlines Comfortable communicating throughout a project and asking questions when needed Preferred Experience Upholstery Industrial sewing equipment Event draping Costume or theatrical sewing Marine or automotive upholstery Custom pattern drafting Soft goods fabrication How We Work Independent contractor (1099) position Project-based assignments —accept only the projects that fit your schedule. Work may be completed from your own studio or workspace unless otherwise discussed. Compensation is determined on a per-project basis and varies depending on scope, complexity, and timeline. Materials may be supplied by Jersey Strike or reimbursed as agreed upon before production begins.
