ASAP Position Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Crate Builder to build wooden containers used to package and protect machines and components for domestic and international shipments . The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience constructing, maintaining, and repairing wooden structures, strong carpentry skills, and experience using hand and power tools. The ability to operate a forklift is required. Essential Job Duties Plan, prepare, and pack products for shipment. Build boxes, crates, and skids for standard and non-standard shipments. Construct, maintain, and repair wooden structures and fixtures. Work from instructions and calculate dimensions accurately. Select appropriate packing materials and methods for bracing and protecting products during transit. Operate carpentry tools including saws, drill presses, planers, sanders, and routers. Check packing lists to ensure all required components and parts are included. Order wood, tools, and supplies through Purchasing. Maintain wood inventory and log materials used for international shipments. Apply required labels and ink stamps to heat-treated wood. Assist with loading and unloading shipments as needed. Additional Duties Assist Receiving with unloading deliveries and Shipping with loading shipments. Handle miscellaneous requests from other departments. Assist Customer Service/Expediting with orders as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of experience constructing, maintaining, and repairing wooden structures and fixtures. Strong carpentry and woodworking skills. Must be able to read a tape measure and perform basic math. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools. Forklift operation experience required. Valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record required. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Detail-oriented with good judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Personal Qualities Able to work independently and as part of a team.
