Aurelia House is a small, growing handmade brand creating whimsical, bookish, and cozy accessories for readers and women who love beautiful everyday things. We're looking for a skilled local sewist in the Nashville, TN or Middle TN area to help us produce our growing collection of handmade fabric goods. This is a part-time, contract/freelance position with the potential for ongoing work as Aurelia House grows. What You'll Make You'll primarily sew: Book sleeves Carry-all pouches Additional small sewn accessories as the collection expands, such as keychain wristlets and scrunchies You'll work from established Aurelia House patterns and instructions, with an emphasis on consistent construction and a polished finished product. Responsibilities Sew finished products according to Aurelia House patterns and specifications Accurately cut and assemble fabric, batting, zippers, and other materials Maintain consistent sizing and construction across products Take care with details such as seams, corners, zipper installation, pressing, and finishing Identify and communicate any issues with patterns, materials, or construction Complete agreed-upon quantities within established timelines Collaborate with the Aurelia House owner on product development and improvements What We're Looking For The ideal sewist: Has strong sewing skills and experience sewing finished goods Is comfortable working with a variety of fabrics (with a strong focus on cotton and satin), interfacing/batting, and zippers Has experience with bags, pouches, accessories, or similar structured sewing projects Produces neat, professional-quality work Is detail-oriented and consistent Can follow written and/or demonstrated patterns and instructions Has their own sewing machine and basic sewing equipment (fabrics, thread, and all other materials will be provided) Is dependable and able to meet agreed-upon production deadlines Lives in or around Nashville, TN (must be willing to meet to drop off finished goods and pick up materials) We're looking for someone interested in ongoing production work , rather than a one-time project. As Aurelia House grows, there may be opportunities to increase production volume and take on additional products. Location & Schedule This is a local, flexible contract position . Sewing can generally be completed from your own home studio/workspace. You'll have flexibility in when you complete the work, provided agreed-upon quantities and deadlines are met. Materials can be coordinated for pickup/drop-off in the Nashville area. Why Work With Aurelia House?
