Duties Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, surgical assistance, and anesthesia monitoring to ensure smooth operations and patient safety. Perform laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), diagnostic sample collection, and processing to support accurate diagnoses. Operate medical equipment including radiology machines (X-ray), dental units, and anesthesia systems with precision and aseptic technique. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, animal husbandry practices, and knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to minimize stress and injury. Administer medications via various routes (IV insertion, catheterization) and monitor critical patients in emergency medicine or intensive care settings. Maintain detailed records using veterinary software, including patient histories, treatment plans, radiology diagnostics, and laboratory results. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care instructions, treatment updates, and follow-up procedures to foster trust and clarity. Qualifications Prior experience working with animals in a veterinary clinic or kennel setting is highly preferred. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology. Experience with dental terminology, veterinary anesthesia monitoring, IV insertion, and vascular access techniques. Knowledge of laboratory procedures including phlebotomy and diagnostic radiology is desirable. Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint, pet grooming, and pet care routines. Familiarity with veterinary surgical assistance, critical & intensive care procedures, and emergency medicine protocols. Proficiency in operating medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and veterinary software platforms. Excellent client communication skills to provide compassionate pet care guidance. Ability to work efficiently in a team environment while maintaining high standards of aseptic technique and animal safety.
