Duties Assist veterinarian with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures using proper restraint techniques for dogs, cats, other small animals, and small ruminants. Prepare and maintain surgical and treatment areas, ensuring aseptic technique is followed to prevent infection. Also help monitor the patient while under anesthesia and in recovery. Administer medications, injections, and treatments accurately under veterinary supervision. Handle animal husbandry tasks such as feeding and monitoring vital signs to promote optimal health. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and communicating with pet owners effectively. Perform laboratory tests and assist with diagnostic procedures including sample collection and processing. Maintain detailed records of medication administration, animal behavior observations, and treatment progress. Requirements Proven animal handling skills across various species, including dogs and cats. Small ruminant experience is also beneficial, but not required Previous veterinary assistant or technician experience in a clinical setting is highly preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices. Ability to perform animal restraint safely during examinations or procedures. Experience with medication administration, catheterization techniques, and aseptic procedures. Strong laboratory skills including sample collection and processing are desirable. Excellent communication skills for front desk duties and client interactions. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
