Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Handle animals safely and confidently, including restraint for exams, injections, blood draws, and other procedures, ensuring minimal stress for the animals. Administer medications accurately according to veterinary instructions, monitor patient responses, and document treatments thoroughly. Support animal husbandry activities such as feeding, grooming, cleaning kennels, and maintaining proper animal physiology and anatomy records. Manage front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries, processing payments, and maintaining accurate medical records. Perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing tests, and recording results to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Support pet owners with pet care advice and education on animal health, behavior, nutrition, and preventive care strategies. Skills Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal care routines and husbandry practices. Veterinary technician experience with knowledge of veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, and critical care protocols. Skilled in animal handling techniques across various species including dogs and cats; capable of animal restraint and catheterization when needed. Experience with medication administration via multiple routes (oral, injectable) while maintaining aseptic technique. Familiarity with front desk operations such as scheduling appointments, client communication, and record keeping. Ability to perform animal restraint safely during examinations or procedures; adept at handling animals of different temperaments. Knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy to assist in diagnostics or treatments effectively. Laboratory experience including sample collection and processing; veterinary clinic experience required.
