Description Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of South County is seeking a Relief Veterinary Assistant to join our amazing team! The Relief Veterinary Assistant performs a vital role in our practice, assisting the Technicians in providing supportive patient care. Candidate must have a compassionate, caring and understanding attitude. Job responsibilities include the following.
Role Responsibilities:
Assist and follow the directions of Technicians, Supervisors and Doctors Safely retrain patients for examination, procedures and ultrasounds. Properly disconnect/reconnect patients from intravenous fluids. Be familiar with fluid pumps and troubleshooting alarms. Assist in setting up radiographs using proper safety precautions. Perform basic laboratory tests such as a CBC/CHEM/Lytes and PCV's. Keep all areas, including reception, exam rooms, treatment sinks, floors, cages, etc. clean. Assist with some reception work when needed. Complete training and continuing education assignments on schedule. Experience & Technical skills:
  • Animal restraint experience.
  • Veterinary experience of 1-3 years.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well with others.
  • Accountable
  • Self-motivated.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Able to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Be capable of working on your feet for extended periods of time.

Hourly Wage:
$19-$23/hour depending on experience and skillset.
