Job Description

Napa Humane (Humane Society of Napa County & SPCA, Inc.) seeks a compassionate , enthusiastic individual to join our team as Veterinary Assistant, while a staff member is out on leave, for our high volume, low cost Spay/Neuter Clinic serving companion animals in the Napa Valley. A strong desire to work WITH people to work FOR the animals is essential. We value a can-do, cooperative attitude to help make our Clinic run as efficiently as possible. This individual will be responsible for: Restraint of animals for intubation prior to surgery, injections and blood sample collection. Monitoring animals under anesthesia and recovering from surgery. Cleaning and disinfecting surgical and animal areas to maintain a safe and sanitary Clinic environment. Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and assembling surgical packs. Laundering towels and surgical gowns and linens Daily routine maintenance such as floor sanitation, sanitation of toilet room, grounds maintenance, dusting and window cleaning, trash and recycling removal This is a full-time, non-exempt position based in Napa, California. A typical workweek is Monday through Friday. This a temporary position to cover a team member's leave. Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and attributes: Compassion for animals and their people. Shows initiative and is a conscientious and detail-oriented worker. Exercises good judgment when dealing with the public, coworkers and animal-related concerns. Ability to multi-task. Committed to the mission and goals of Napa Humane and the success of the Clinic.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Experience in an animal care setting, i.e. a shelter setting or veterinary clinic preferred. This is a temporary position, which we approximate to end January 20th.
Job Types:
Full-time, Temporary Pay:
$18.00 - $21.00 per hour
