Dr. Jyl's Mobile Vet Connection is seeking a highly motivated and professional veterinary/kennel assistant to serve the many clients that visit our busy practice. This is a challenging job and is completely different from a traditional general veterinary hospital. Dr. Jyl's Mobile Vet Connection is a full service veterinary hospital located in the rural/agricultural area of Orangevale, CA. We specialize in Western and Eastern treatments such as acupuncture, VOM, ozone, laser treatments, and Chinese herbs. The ideal candidate must be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities related to a veterinary technician assistant (about 50% of working hours) : Willing to work Monday-Friday with occasional shifts on Saturdays. Willing to learn new holistic modalities and integrative approaches to veterinary medicine. Exhibit professional, positive, courteous, and exceptional customer service. Comfortable with exotics, farm animals, as well as cats and dogs of all sizes and breeds. Maintain professional appearance. Attentive to client and patient needs by obtaining history and educating clients. Assist in surgical and clinical procedures, dental prophylaxis, and diagnostic procedures. Skills must include restraint, venipuncture, IVC placement, anesthetic monitoring, radiology, and lab analysis. Willing to cross train for reception and answer phones. Understand vaccination protocol, basic lab tests, common diseases, and pet behavior. Maintain accurate medical records. Able to use Windows based computer systems including word processing, email, and client management software. Maintaining a sanitary work environment. Comfortable in emergency and stressful situations. This position also includes duties related to the Kennel Assistant position about 50% of working hours. The duties for this part of the position are as follows: Able to work Monday-Friday, Saturdays and Sundays mandatory. Exhibit professional, positive, courteous attitude and display exceptional customer service. Comfortable with exotics and farm animals, as well as cats and dogs of all sizes and breeds. Comfortable working outside year round. Physically capable of performing duties while maintaining a professional appearance. Feeding and medicating resident farm animals, boarders, and patients. Watering property and ensuring every animal has adequate water supply. Understand vaccination protocol, basic lab tests, common diseases, and pet behavior. Able to use Windows based computer systems including word processing, email, and client management software. Cleaning stalls, maintaining property cleanliness. Assist in hospital cleaning duties. Assist in the hospital and restraint when needed. Able to lift 50 pounds. Valid California Driver's License and proof of insurance Picking up feed for animals at local feed and grocery stores. This is a part-time position which includes working weekends and holidays. 20-30 hrs/wk. Candidates will have at least two years of experience working as a technician in a
