Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and experienced Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. (minimum 3 yrs experience) This vital role combines technical expertise with compassionate animal care, supporting veterinarians in delivering exceptional medical services. As a member of our clinic, you will perform a variety of clinical and laboratory procedures, assist in surgical and emergency cases, and ensure the highest standards of animal handling and patient care. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, animal anatomy identification, and sample collection such as blood draws (phlebotomy) and laboratory work. Operate medical equipment including radiology (X-ray), diagnostic imaging tools, anesthesia monitors, and laboratory analyzers to support accurate diagnostics. Prepare animals for surgery by administering anesthesia, monitoring vital signs during procedures, and assisting with surgical assistance tasks such as animal catheterization and aseptic techniques. Manage patient care through animal husbandry practices, including feeding, grooming, medication administration, and maintaining a clean environment in kennels and treatment areas. Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, including taking X-rays and assisting with radiology diagnostics to aid in accurate diagnosis. Support emergency medicine efforts by providing critical care, monitoring animals under anesthesia, performing vascular access procedures like IV insertion, and assisting with critical & intensive care cases. Maintain detailed records using veterinary software, document procedures accurately, and communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care plans. Requirements Proven veterinary technician or assistant experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy. Demonstrated kennel experience along with proficiency in dog handling and animal restraint techniques. Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices, anesthesiology, veterinary anesthesia monitoring, and emergency medicine protocols. Skilled in laboratory work including phlebotomy, medication administration, IV insertion, and animal catheterization. Familiarity with diagnostic radiology (X-ray) procedures and veterinary surgical assistance tasks. Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to aseptic techniques.
