Job Description

VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County is looking for a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Specialty Service Coordinator. This position will focus on the Surgery Department, but will be cross trained to support all departments. Located near Santa Rosa, VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma County is a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital that has been caring for the pets of our community for over 40 years . Our ideal individual would be very familiar and comfortable with veterinary medicine and is looking to build new skills and knowledge while supporting in a administrative position.
Compensation:
$23-$26/hr, FT, Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5:30
PM Job Summary:
Assist doctor and other hospital staff by organizing and managing the departments patient schedule. Work closely with clients to help them navigate their pets care with the neurology department Handles administrative procedures for doctors and technicians/assistants. Education, skills and experience: High School Diploma Previous experience or training/education working in a veterinary facility Computer competency in a variety of platforms Able to function with minimal direction, and be flexible in responding to diverse and changing needs Able to empathize with clients and listen to them while remaining focused and professional Detail and task oriented Able to work in a high stress and fast paced environment Strong interpersonal communication skills for support of team and clients Typical daily responsibilities: Appointment management Communicate with clients prior to appointments and ensure appropriate information is delivered to client Obtain all pertinent medical records and radiographs for appointments Review medical records for accurateness and completeness Engage with client to confirm appointments Follow appointment scheduling and cancellation protocol Work in collaboration with Client Service Representatives to schedule appointments and procedures Coordinate appointments or procedures with other services if necessary Client Communication and department tasks Communicate with clients, assisting them with managing the care of their pets in relation to our hospital and the department. Monitor internal tasks to the department and complete or forward them to appropriate personnel. Clear and concise documentation of communication with client Physical requirements: Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds.
