•All Tails Wagging Veterinary Clinic is seeking a veterinary assistant/ technician for our full-service animal hospital. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. You will assist with various tasks, including animal handling, providing basic medical care, maintaining cleanliness and organization within the clinic, and offering support to pet owners. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal welfare to gain valuable experience in the veterinary field.
Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, procedures, and surgeries. Handle and restrain animals during examinations and treatments with care and compassion. Provide basic medical care, such as administering medications, dressing wounds, and monitoring vital signs. Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, including cleaning cages, exam rooms, and equipment. Assist with client communication and education, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and providing information on preventive care and treatments. Monitor the well-being of hospitalized animals and provide them with necessary care and attention. Perform routine laboratory tests, such as blood draws and urinalysis, under the guidance of veterinary staff. Assist with inventory management, including stocking supplies and ordering medications and equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in veterinary assistance preferred. Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility preferred. Strong passion for animal welfare and a genuine desire to help animals in need. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members. Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and protocols. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
