Job Description Pet's Friend Animal Clinic is a 7-doctor practice with a busy, fast-paced environment, and we're looking for a Veterinary Assistant or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team. We're looking for someone who wants to grow in a hospital that values strong patient care, teamwork, and continuous learning. While advanced technical skills are a plus, our priority is finding someone with a strong foundation, good judgment, and the right mindset. At Pet's Friend, patient care and patient safety always come first. We prioritize accuracy over speed, communication over assumptions, and patient safety over convenience. Every system, workflow, and training process is built around providing safe, consistent, high-quality care for our patients. This position follows a 5/8 schedule , with five 8-hour shifts per week based on hospital needs and patient care demands. Team members are also required to work 1-2 Saturday shifts per month as part of regular scheduling and hospital coverage. Training & Growth This role is designed to build over time. Your first few months will focus on learning the flow of the hospital, understanding our standards of care, getting to know our doctors, support staff, clients, and how we operate day to day. This includes rooming appointments, taking accurate histories, patient handling, client communication, and building confidence within our workflow. You will also gain exposure to front desk workflow and administrative responsibilities to better understand the full client and patient experience, including scheduling, communication, and how each department supports overall hospital flow. As your understanding and skill set grow, you'll gradually be trained into more advanced responsibilities such as treatment support, anesthesia, surgery assistance, urgent care, and higher-level technical duties. Key Responsibilities Room appointments and obtain accurate patient histories Safely handle and restrain patients with patient safety as the top priority Support doctors with exams, treatments, and daily patient care Assist with laboratory sample collection, preparation, and processing Maintain clean, organized, and efficient treatment areas Communicate clearly with clients regarding patient care and discharge instructions Understand front desk workflow and support hospital-wide communication when needed Assist with treatment procedures, hospitalized patient care, and nursing support Grow into advanced skills such as anesthetic monitoring, catheter placement, surgery support, and urgent care assistance based on training and competency Requirements Veterinary hospital experience preferred RVT license (or in progress) is a plus, but not required Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team Good clinical judgment, comprehension, and situational awareness Willingness to learn, accept coaching, and grow within the role Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-doctor hospital Availability to work 1-2 Saturdays per month Passion for high-quality medicine and compassionate patient care Why Join Pet's Friend?
