The ideal candidate will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing exceptional animal care and client service. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, assisting with a variety of medical procedures, animal handling, and clinic operations. Prior experience in veterinary clinics, animal husbandry, or kennel work is highly valued, along with strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology. Duties Assist with animal restraint during examinations and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff Administer medications and injections following proper aseptic techniques Support veterinary technicians with laboratory procedures, sample collection, and diagnostic testing Handle animals of various species, including dogs, cats, and equines, ensuring gentle and effective pet care Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of treatment areas, kennels, and equipment using aseptic techniques Assist with pet care activities such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring animal behavior Support front desk operations by managing appointments, patient records, and client communication as needed Help with animal catheterization procedures and other specialized medical tasks under supervision Ensure proper documentation of treatments, medications administered, and patient progress in medical records Contribute to maintaining a safe environment by recognizing potential hazards and adhering to safety protocols Requirements Previous kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred; veterinary clinic experience is a plus Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care practices Experience with animal handling techniques including dog handling and equine care Skills in animal restraint, medication administration, laboratory procedures, and aseptic technique Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Strong communication skills for interacting with clients and team members Certification or training as a veterinary assistant or technician is desirable but not mandatory Must be able to lift animals or equipment up to 50 pounds comfortably A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to providing excellent care This position offers an engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about animal health and welfare to grow their skills within a professional veterinary setting.
