Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your animal care skills while supporting veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal welfare and a desire to contribute to a caring veterinary environment. Responsibilities Able to gather pertinent history on all patients coming in. Handle animals safely and compassionately, tailoring the needs to each animal. Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning, grooming, and cleaning kennels or runs. Support the maintenance of a clean and organized clinic environment by performing cleaning duties and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Aid in client communication by providing pet care instructions, explaining procedures, and addressing basic client inquiries. Be able to perform various injections (IV, Sub-q, and IM injections) Fill medications according to veterinarian instructions. Take phone calls and schedule appointments Able to administer medications Requirements Prior veterinary assistant experience in a general practice setting. Experience with veterinary critical care and surgery support is advantageous. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, record keeping, medication administration, and animal restraint techniques. Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs and cats. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members professionally. Commitment to animal welfare, safety protocols, and proper use of PPE at all times. A genuine interest in veterinary medicine with a desire to learn and grow within the field. Able to lift at least 40 pounds alone, 50+ pounds with assistance Be able to stand for long periods of time. Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
