$22-$26 per hour, depending on education, experience, demonstrated clinical skills, surgical proficiency, and qualifications

LVT compensation and responsibilities are therefore determined individually based on the candidate's education, veterinary experience, demonstrated clinical competencies, surgical and anesthesia skills, and overall ability to perform the position—not licensure status alone. Position Overview As a Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) at Blue Sky Animal Hospital, you'll be a vital part of our medical team. Depending on your training, experience, licensure, and demonstrated competencies, responsibilities may include assisting with examinations and treatments, performing diagnostics, supporting surgical procedures, monitoring anesthesia and recovery, and educating clients. Key Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures Prepare patients and assist veterinarians during surgical and dental procedures Monitor anesthesia and post-operative recovery as appropriate to training, experience, and qualifications Perform venipuncture and catheter placement Administer medications and treatments as directed Collect, prepare, and run laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and fecal samples Assist with digital radiography, ultrasound, and other diagnostic procedures Support urgent-care and same-day cases Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using EzyVet Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners Maintain clean, stocked, and organized treatment, surgical, and patient-care areas Follow hospital protocols for patient safety, infection control, anesthesia, surgery, and medical care Contribute to a culture of teamwork, respect, accountability, and high-quality medicine Qualifications Minimum of one year of veterinary practice experience is required Small-animal veterinary experience strongly preferred LVT licensure preferred for candidates seeking a licensed technician position LVT candidates will be evaluated based on their individual education, experience, training pathway, and demonstrated clinical competencies Experience with patient restraint and handling, venipuncture, laboratory procedures, and client communication Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience strongly preferred for candidates seeking consideration within the higher compensation range Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the clinical skills represented on the candidate's resume or application Proficient in, or willing to learn, EzyVet practice management software Calm under pressure, team-oriented, dependable, and detail-focused Strong communication and organizational skills Passionate about animals and committed to excellent patient care Benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) for Full-Time employees Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) for Part-Time employees Company-Sponsored Healthcare for Full-Time employees 401(k) with Profit Sharing Veterinary Services and Product Discounts Pet Stipend Why Join Blue Sky Animal Hospital?
