Through our low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination programs, we help keep pets healthy, reduce pet overpopulation, and remove financial barriers to care. We are seeking an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or highly skilled veterinary assistant to join our surgical team. About the Role As the Lead Prep Technician / Lead Recovery Nurse, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and success of each clinic. You'll work closely with our surgeons, lead volunteers, and oversee patient preparation and anesthesia while helping maintain a smooth surgical flow. This position typically works one weekend (Friday-Sunday) each month , with occasional additional clinic opportunities. Responsibilities Induce anesthesia using IV and IM protocols Place IV catheters Prepare patients for surgery, including shaving and surgical scrub Monitor anesthetized patients throughout surgery Administer vaccines and medications as directed Assist with patient recovery and post-operative monitoring Maintain accurate medical records Oversee and mentor volunteers working in prep and recovery Delegate tasks effectively to maintain an efficient surgical workflow Communicate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and clinic efficiency Qualifications Oregon CVT preferred, or experienced veterinary assistant with advanced anesthesia skills Experience with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery Excellent animal handling and restraint skills Ability to lift and safely restrain animals up to 50 pounds Strong organizational and communication skills Calm, confident decision-making in a fast-paced environment Positive leadership style with the ability to coach and support volunteers Preferred Qualifications Experience in a high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) setting Leadership or supervisory experience Familiarity with efficient surgical workflow and anesthesia protocols What We're Looking For Our ideal candidate is someone who: Leads by example Stays calm under pressure Takes initiative without waiting to be asked Enjoys teaching and mentoring volunteers Is passionate about providing accessible veterinary care Values teamwork, efficiency, and exceptional patient care Why FIXbend?
