Veterinary Assistant

We are expanding our team at Animal Hospital of Milan by adding two veterinary assistants. License is not required, however, pay will be based on level of experience and increased for those who are licensed. Five day work week with no weekend duties required. Seven days PTO accumulated after the first year. Flexible scheduling allows for personal appointments. Pay raise and uniform provided after 90 day probationary period. Animal Hospital of Milan is a small animal-only, two veterinarian practice in the ever-growing community of Milan, TN. We are open Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM-5 PM. Appointments are seen 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. We only see walk-ins in cases of illness or emergency. In addition to annual wellness and sick visits, we also provide surgical procedures including (but not limited to) soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, and elective procedures such as spays and neuters. The majority of lab work is performed in-house as well as radiology (digital x-rays and ultrasound). Grooming and limited boarding are offered to clients only. We are located within 25 miles of Jackson, TN. Job Description Assist doctors and other clinic staff by care and cleaning of patients and facilities including completing patient treatments, assisting in surgery, and all other animal care functions as well as other tasks involved in the operations of a veterinary hospital.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be friendly, outgoing, "people oriented." Excellent communications skills. Must be capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties that will be expected in the job. Telephone and computer skills are necessary . Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments and to accept change.

Physical Requirements:

Must attend work daily and be on time. Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medication. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a minimum 7-hour day. Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions. Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone. Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing hospital equipment such as electric clippers, syringes, radiology equipment, laboratory equipment, computers, etc. Further training will be performed on-site with the doctor you are assisting as well as other staff that are in charge of training.
