Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veternarian Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for animal care and welfare, along with the technical expertise to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical treatment for pets. This role requires a strong understanding of veterinary practices, animal physiology, and the ability to handle various animal species with compassion and professionalism. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment through proper aseptic techniques. Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while accurately interpreting results. Provide nursing care to animals in critical condition, monitoring vital signs and administering medications as directed. Utilize veterinary terminology effectively when communicating with team members and pet owners. Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments, ensuring their comfort and safety. Maintain accurate medical records for each patient, documenting treatments, observations, and any changes in condition. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Assist in kennel duties as needed, including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment for all animals. Skills Strong understanding of animal anatomy and physiology to provide effective care. Proficiency in veterinary terminology to communicate clearly within the veterinary team. Experience in animal handling, including dog handling techniques and restraint methods. Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices to support emergency situations effectively. Knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment for diagnostic testing.

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
