Veterinary Emergency & Specialty of Tidewater (VEST) | Virginia Beach, VA VEST is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Veterinary Custodial Attendant to help maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for our patients, clients, and hospital team. This is a nonclinical, cleaning-focused position with no direct patient-care responsibilities. It is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, notices the details others may overlook, and understands how important cleanliness and sanitation are within a busy veterinary hospital. What You'll Do Clean and disinfect kennels and animal runs after patients have been removed or secured by clinical staff Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors throughout the hospital Clean exam rooms, treatment areas, ICU, pharmacy, diagnostic areas, bathrooms, offices, lobby, break room, and other shared spaces Clean and disinfect counters, sinks, doors, windows, walls, baseboards, cabinets, and high-touch surfaces Empty trash and replace liners throughout the hospital Restock paper towels, hand soap, sanitizer, gloves, toilet paper, and other assigned supplies Wash, dry, fold, and distribute hospital laundry Follow special cleaning and laundry procedures for isolation and surgical areas Clean and maintain custodial equipment and keep cleaning supplies organized Complete assigned cleaning checklists and communicate any unfinished tasks, maintenance concerns, or supply needs Perform other nonclinical cleaning and facility-support duties as assigned What This Role Does Not Include This position does not involve providing medical care, administering medications, restraining animals, or independently handling patients. Clinical team members are responsible for moving or securing patients before occupied kennels or animal-care areas are cleaned. What We're Looking For Dependable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a consistently clean environment Able to follow written checklists, cleaning instructions, product labels, and safety procedures Comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary hospital around animals, medical activity, bodily fluids, strong odors, and emotionally sensitive situations Able to communicate respectfully and professionally with team members and clients Previous custodial, housekeeping, kennel-cleaning, hospitality, or healthcare-environment experience is preferred but not required Physical Requirements This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, and repetitive cleaning motions. Candidates must be able to lift and carry supplies, laundry, trash, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and work safely around wet surfaces and cleaning products.
