We're looking for a dependable and hardworking Kennel Assistant to join our team and help keep our patients comfortable, our clinic clean, and our day-to-day operations running smoothly. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone interested in animals, veterinary medicine, or gaining hands-on experience in a clinical setting. Previous veterinary experience is not required—we're happy to train the right person who is reliable, motivated, and willing to learn. Compensation & Schedule $19-$20/hour, depending on experience Part-time or full-time opportunities may be available Weekday and weekend availability preferred Flexible scheduling based on clinic needs and availability What You'll Do Kennel Assistants play an important role in both patient care and maintaining a safe, organized hospital.
Responsibilities include:
Walking, feeding, and monitoring hospitalized and boarding pets Keeping kennels and patient areas clean, comfortable, and sanitary Cleaning and preparing exam rooms and treatment areas Washing and sanitizing medical equipment, instruments, bowls, and other clinic supplies Completing laundry, dishes, and general cleaning throughout the clinic Safely handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments Assisting veterinary assistants, technicians, and veterinarians with patient restraint when needed Restocking supplies and helping keep treatment areas organized Assisting with basic patient-care tasks under the supervision of the veterinary team Helping with other daily tasks as needed to keep the clinic running efficiently What We're Looking For You do not need previous veterinary experience, but you should be comfortable working around dogs and cats and genuinely interested in animal care.
The ideal candidate is:
Reliable and punctual Hardworking and willing to stay busy Comfortable with physical, hands-on work Able to follow instructions and work well as part of a team Detail-oriented, particularly when it comes to cleanliness and sanitation Comfortable cleaning urine, feces, vomit, blood, and other bodily fluids Comfortable working around sick, injured, anxious, or energetic animals Able to safely lift and assist with animals weighing 50+ lbs when appropriate assistance is available Previous experience with animals, kennels, shelters, boarding facilities, grooming facilities, or veterinary clinics is a plus, but not required.
