The store is busy with a lot of walk in traffic from the Burke-Gillman Trail across the road. Responsibilities Greet customers and listen to their concerns and issues with their bike, performing short turn around work if possible, or taking detailed notes to write service tickets for work that can not be performed immediately. Perform comprehensive bicycle repairs including brake adjustments, gear tuning, and wheel truing with precision and efficiency. Conduct symptom-based mechanical diagnosis to identify issues quickly and accurately. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized bicycle maintenance equipment to assemble, repair, and maintain bikes. Assist customers with bike assembly, maintenance advice, and product recommendations to enhance their cycling experience. Manage maintenance work on bicycles ranging from basic tune-ups to complex suspension repairs while adhering to safety standards. Support retail sales by providing knowledgeable insights on bicycle features, accessories, and maintenance products using POS (Point of Sale) systems. Lift heavy bikes or components safely during maintenance tasks while following proper ergonomic practices. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic with a strong background in bicycle repair or related mechanical systems repair. Bicycle Mechanic Certification is desired but not essential. Willingness to learn, ask questions or refer to more experienced staff as needed. Knowledge of suspension systems, brake repair, mechanical assembly, and symptom-based diagnosis techniques. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment effectively and safely. Experience with retail sales environments and familiarity with POS systems is preferred. Ability to perform maintenance work on bicycles efficiently while maintaining high quality standards. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to assist diverse clientele. Physical ability for heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and performing detailed repair tasks in a busy setting.
