Job Description
- Veterinary Technician/ Experienced Veterinary Assistant
- Integrative Veterinary Service is seeking an experienced assistant, technician, or certified veterinary technician (CVT) to join our team!
In addition to the animal care they provide, veterinary technicians also fulfill a vital role for the pet owners.
They are one of the first points of contact for clients, and as such, set the tone for the overall veterinary hospital experience.
Veterinary technicians must be comfortable with people and possess good communication skills.
They facilitate and expand on client education about a multitude of topics including diseases, nutrition, supplements and medications and their proper administration, and general pet care and often act as an intermediary between the veterinarian and client.
Veterinary technicians must be able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have knowledge in holistic modalities or a strong desire to learn a holistic approach
- Have experience and confidence in generalized client and patient care
- Possess and maintain a positive attitude and outlook
- Have a strong desire to learn a fear free approach to patient care
- Be able to work quickly and efficientlyIVS technician / assistant duties include:
- Venipuncture
- Obtaining patient histories and communicating with the veterinarian
- Obtaining and packaging various laboratory samples
- Operating various in-house lab equipment
- Pharmacy
- Excellent client communication and care
- Providing veterinary treatments as requested (subcutaneous fluids, nail trims, anal glands, ear cleaning, etc.)
- General Hospital Cleaning, laundry, and dishes
- Obtaining digital radiographs
- Laser therapy
- Assisting doctors with veterinary spinal manipulation and acupunctureWork environment:
- Employees may be exposed to fractious animals that may bite or scratch, excessive noise, hazardous chemicals, radiation, anesthesia, biological hazards and zoonotic diseases while performing the required functions of this job.
Physical Requirements:
- Employees must be able to stand, sit, walk, kneel, stoop and crouch for varying lengths of time/ repetitively/ continuously
- Employees must be able to perform repetitive motion including bending, twisting or reaching.
- Employees must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of a coworker.
