Job Description

WANTED! RVT Unicorn to Join Our Team Have you been told you are a unicorn based on your strong work ethic, a desire to excel, great client communication, and the ability to work at a steady pace, but have not found your dream place to call home? We are trying to round up more unicorns to join our growing team. We are not just looking for any Registered Veterinary Technician; we are looking for the right person who wants to be part of our growing team at Whiskers Animal Dentistry and Oral Surgery. We take pride in serving our clients and patients by establishing trust through our availability, communication, and understanding of their perspectives with a positive attitude. We have observed throughout the process of building our specialty dentistry and oral surgery practice in Petaluma that each team member has their specific strengths and weaknesses. We honor that in each other and work together to complete our puzzle. We are committed to maintaining this culture of teamwork, positivity, continued learning, and a priority of excellent care of our patients and their people. We are looking for an individual who desires a long-term opportunity with potential for career growth and personal development in a supportive and sustainable environment. Our veterinarians are Dr. Chris Carter, Board Certified Veterinary Dentist, and his residency-trained associate, Dr. Hannahbess Thomson-Laing. We also work closely with multiple Board-Certified Veterinary Anesthesiologists, under the leadership of Dr. Martin Kennedy. Our facility, at 921 Lakeville Street, has great accessibility, an awesome frontage sign, a gallery-like entryway, high ceilings, a relaxing color scheme (for animals and people), an open floor plan with space for 4 dental procedure tables, a surgery suite for sterile procedures, and more. You need to see Whiskers to appreciate what we have built. We have invested in our current team, facilities, equipment, and the supplies necessary to create a career path, and the only thing missing is you. We want to help you soar and grow as a paraprofessional, performing all you can legally do as an RVT. If you think you are the unicorn we seek, APPLY TODAY , to join the Whiskers team and grow with us! Opportunity Drs. Carter, Thomson-Laing, and the rest of our team will invest time and effort, helping you develop your skill set and knowledge base, equipping you to flourish in this environment and compensating you as you grow, including training on how to perform cone beam CT scans, dental radiology, recognition of dental pathology, tooth-by-tooth exam and dental charting, regional nerve blocks, knowledge, preparation and assisting for common procedures such as root canal therapy, vital pulp therapy, and advanced oral surgery. You will be further developed in all things anesthesia. We have a Board-Certified Veterinary Anesthesiologist involved in all anesthesia cases to varying degrees, providing valuable insight and direct guidance. Every patient receives a tailored and detailed anesthetic plan with the option to reach out to the anesthesiologist at any time. Our collaborative approach allows us to include CRI's (for pain control, blood pressure management or maintenance of general anesthesia to reduce inhalant anesthetic reliance), pharmacologic intervention to maintain patient stability, mechanical ventilation support, circuit selection, flow rates, and assistance in ensuring your measurements are accurate by cross verification with other parameters. In addition to this, select patients receive livestream remote monitoring by the anesthesiologist from plan creation to induction and through recovery if our client chooses this or if proven medically necessary based on risk factors. What we want from you We are looking for someone already comfortable with, or highly interested in, dentistry and anesthesia, with a strong desire for continued learning, being challenged daily to excel in this rewarding area of veterinary medicine, and possessing the following: A positive attitude with a desire to excel. A meticulous nature to support this detail-oriented specialty. A disposition for teamwork, direct communication, transparency, and a willingness to avoid gossip, division, and negativity. A willingness to replace the empty toilet paper roll and pick up trash rather than walking by. If you return your shopping cart to the appropriate area, this is a good sign! A foundation as an RVT with 2 years of experience or a compelling history of excellent performance in the veterinary profession demonstrating a dedication to career and team development. Knowledge and experience with EzyVet is a plus. A current RVT license in good standing in the state of California. Compensation will be based on experience and will increase accordingly with proven competency. Pride in a clean work environment. Work schedule 4
