Job Description

Veterinary Technician
  • Growing Team, Great Medicine & Fun Humans We are growing and in the best possible way.
We recently added another amazing veterinarian to our doctor team, which means we are looking for two talented Veterinary Technicians to grow right alongside us. We are looking two people who love veterinary medicine, enjoy being part of a team, works hard, stays curious, and wants to continue advancing their career. What Life at Flora Looks Like We are a busy veterinary hospital, so we won't pretend our days are slow or quiet. There will be appointments. There will be lab work. There will be radiographs. And there will also be teammates helping each other, plenty of laughter, opportunities to learn, doctors who value their support staff, and a group of people who genuinely care about the patients, clients, and humans working beside them. We believe you can work hard and still enjoy coming to work. (Ask us about our disco ball.) What You'll Be Doing Our Veterinary Technicians are an important part of our medical team and work closely with our doctors throughout the day.
Responsibilities may include:
Obtaining patient histories and assisting doctors during appointments Safely restraining dogs and cats for examinations and procedures Performing venipuncture and collecting diagnostic samples Placing IV catheters Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian Obtaining and positioning patients for diagnostic radiographs Running and preparing in-house laboratory samples Assisting with outpatient procedures and treatments Monitoring hospitalized patients and communicating changes to the medical team Providing excellent nursing care to our patients Reviewing medications and discharge instructions with clients Maintaining accurate medical records Keeping treatment areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready Helping maintain efficient patient and appointment flow Jumping in to support teammates when the hospital gets busy Depending on your experience and interests, there may also be opportunities to continue developing skills in areas such as anesthesia, dentistry, surgery, advanced diagnostics, and other aspects of veterinary medicine. Who We're Hoping to Find Technical ability is important to us, and so is who you are as a teammate. We are looking for someone who: Has previous veterinary technician experience Is comfortable handling and restraining dogs and cats Has strong foundational technical skills Works with a sense of urgency when the situation requires it Can stay organized in a busy hospital Communicates well with doctors, teammates, and clients Is compassionate and kind Takes responsibility for their work Is willing to give and receive feedback Wants to continue learning and developing their skills Doesn't believe they already know everything Can laugh, have fun, and still get the job done Notices when a teammate needs help and jumps in Brings a positive attitude and a strong work ethic to the hospital We Love People Who Want to Grow Veterinary medicine changes constantly, and none of us ever really finish learning. We want technicians who ask questions. Who want to understand the why, not just memorize the task. Who are willing to be coached. Who can receive feedback without taking it personally. Who want to become stronger technicians next year than they are today. You do not have to know everything when you walk through our doors. What matters is having a solid foundation, a good attitude, and the willingness to keep learning. Our Culture Matters to Us We are very intentional about the kind of team we are building. We value kindness, compassion, teamwork, accountability, education, communication, professionalism, and a strong work ethic. We work hard because there are patients and families depending on us. We help each other because veterinary medicine is a team sport. We give feedback because we want each other to grow. And we laugh because some days in veterinary medicine, you really need to. We want people who contribute positively to the room—not just people who can perform the technical skills. Why Are We Hiring? We are fortunate to be growing our practice, and we want to make sure our technician team grows appropriately with it so we can continue providing excellent patient care without sacrificing the culture we've worked hard to build. If you are looking for a veterinary hospital where you can support veterinarians who practice great medicine while continuing to develop your skills, work with people who care about each other, and have some fun along the way, we would love to meet you.
