Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Experienced Veterinary Technician, or Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support veterinarians and other staff in providing high-quality care to animals. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Technician Duties:
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by restraining animals and ensuring their comfort. Perform routine tasks such as nursing care for hospitalized animals. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to aseptic techniques. Prepare and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian. Collect samples for laboratory testing and assist with laboratory procedures. Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the veterinary staff. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' care. Lift up to 50lbs Technician Experience Previous experience in pet care or animal handling. Knowledge of animal anatomy and basic veterinary practices is beneficial. Familiarity with handling techniques and animal restraint methods is essential. A background in laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine is advantageous.

Requirements and Qualifications Experience:
At least 1 year of recent experience working as a PAID veterinary technician in a clinic or hospital. This does NOT include volunteering, internships, or externships.
Education:
High school diploma required.
Skills:
Strong communication skills, a gentle touch with animals, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely.
Software:
Basic computer skills to log patient notes.
Preferred Qualifications Licensure:
Credentialed, Licensed, Certified, or Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) is a plus, but strong unlicensed experience is welcome. Ark Animal Hospital is a high paced small animal practice that provides high quality medicine and care to a broad spectrum of clients and their pets. Our practice currently sees predominantly wellness cases in feline and canine medicine, with opportunities for surgery. We have a great support team that makes coming to work a pleasure. We're trying to create a sustainable practice model for our staff where they can practice the highest quality medicine, while maintaining boundaries and still enjoying their families, friends, and time outside of work.
