Job Description

Veterinary Technician Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support the delivery of exceptional animal care through technical expertise, compassionate handling, and efficient clinical assistance. This role involves working closely with veterinarians to provide medical procedures, patient monitoring, and client communication in a fast-paced animal healthcare environment. Candidates with veterinary experience, animal handling skills, and proficiency in diagnostic and laboratory procedures are encouraged to apply. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures including radiology diagnostics and laboratory work. Perform animal restraint and handling for various species, including dogs & cats. Conduct venipuncture (IV insertion, phlebotomy) for medication administration and blood sampling. Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, ensuring proper veterinary anesthesia monitoring and general anesthesia protocols. Assist with dental procedures utilizing dental terminology and aseptic techniques. Prepare and administer medications accurately following veterinary procedure guidelines. Operate medical equipment such as radiology machines, laboratory analyzers, and diagnostic tools. Maintain detailed records using veterinary software systems. Support pet care routines including animal husbandry. Assist in emergency medicine situations requiring critical & intensive care skills. Ensure a sterile environment through proper aseptic techniques during surgeries or invasive procedures. Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions and treatment plans. Skills Proven veterinary technician experience with knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and medical procedures. Experience with laboratory work, diagnostic radiology, X-ray operation, and radiology diagnostics. Skilled in animal handling across different species with expertise in dog handling and animal restraint techniques. Proficiency in medication administration, IV insertion, animal catheterization, and anesthesia monitoring. Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping. Ability to perform pet care tasks including pet care education for clients, and emergency veterinary care. Strong understanding of aseptic techniques to prevent infections during surgical or invasive procedures. Experience assisting with veterinary surgical procedures and anesthesia management. Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices including intensive care management. Excellent client communication skills to explain treatments clearly to pet owners.
