- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform animal handling and restraint during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Prepare animals for surgery, including pre-operative care and post-operative monitoring
- Conduct laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
- Take and develop X-rays of animals
- Maintain accurate medical records and update patient files
- Provide compassionate care to animals and their owners
Skills:
- Animal handling: Ability to safely handle and restrain various types of animals
- Animal catheterization: Proficiency in placing catheters for fluid administration or blood collection
- Veterinary critical care: Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to provide critical care to sick or injured animals
X-Ray:
Experience in taking and developing X-rays for diagnostic purposes- Aseptic technique: Understanding of sterile techniques to prevent infection during procedures
Laboratory:
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and ability to perform diagnostic tests- Animal husbandry: Knowledge of animal care practices, including feeding, grooming, and exercise
- Dog training: Ability to train dogs in basic obedience commands and behavior modification techniques
- Animal physiology: Understanding of the anatomy and physiology of different animal species
