Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
  • Perform animal handling and restraint during examinations and procedures
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
  • Prepare animals for surgery, including pre-operative care and post-operative monitoring
  • Conduct laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
  • Take and develop X-rays of animals
  • Maintain accurate medical records and update patient files
  • Provide compassionate care to animals and their owners
Skills:
  • Animal handling: Ability to safely handle and restrain various types of animals
  • Animal catheterization: Proficiency in placing catheters for fluid administration or blood collection
  • Veterinary critical care: Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to provide critical care to sick or injured animals
  • X-Ray:
    Experience in taking and developing X-rays for diagnostic purposes
  • Aseptic technique: Understanding of sterile techniques to prevent infection during procedures
  • Laboratory:
    Familiarity with laboratory equipment and ability to perform diagnostic tests
  • Animal husbandry: Knowledge of animal care practices, including feeding, grooming, and exercise
  • Dog training: Ability to train dogs in basic obedience commands and behavior modification techniques
  • Animal physiology: Understanding of the anatomy and physiology of different animal species
