About Us:
Iowa Veterinary Specialties (IVS) is a fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, and referral practice in Des Moines, Iowa. Owned and affiliated with the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and operational for over 40 years, we provide 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary care. Our dedicated team includes emergency veterinarians, boarded specialty surgeons and skilled veterinary technicians & assistants.
Position Overview:
The hourly wage based on experience and knowledge. You would be using all facets of your technical & nursing skills in a state-of-the-art small animal hospital, practicing the highest quality of medicine. You would be working closely with experienced and knowledgeable emergency doctors, boarded specialty surgeons, and skilled veterinary technicians & assistants.
Key Responsibilities :
Triage incoming emergency cases Obtain, evaluate and monitor patient vitals for both trauma & hospitalized patients Collect and prep samples; perform processes in-house diagnostic laboratory testing Perform catherization, phlebotomy and different types of imaging Induce, monitor and recover patients under anesthesia Prepare and administer medications and treatments, as prescribed by the veterinarian. Qualifications At least 3 years experience as a veterinary technician Able to lift up to 40lbs unassisted Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment. Pay:
$23.00 - $28.00 per hour
