Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Technician and become a vital part of providing exceptional animal care! In this energetic role, you will support veterinarians in delivering comprehensive medical services, ensuring our animal patients receive top-quality treatment and comfort. Your expertise will help create a positive environment for pets and their owners, fostering trust and confidence in our veterinary practice. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills across various areas of veterinary medicine while making a meaningful difference in animals' lives. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, and sample collection Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses Maintain detailed records of patient treatments, laboratory results, and medical histories using veterinary terminology and record-keeping protocols Provide pet care services including grooming, feeding, and administering medications with gentle animal handling techniques Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning and oral examinations Handle animals safely during examinations and treatments, utilizing animal husbandry skills and dog handling techniques Operate imaging equipment such as X-ray machines to assist in diagnostic processes while adhering to aseptic techniques Support critical care cases by monitoring vital signs, administering treatments, and ensuring proper animal physiology management Assist with equine care when applicable, including handling horses and understanding equine anatomy and behavior Maintain a clean and sterile environment through proper animal restraint, sanitation practices, and adherence to aseptic protocols Qualifications Prior experience as a veterinary technician or in a related veterinary setting is highly preferred Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care best practices Experience with kennel management, dog training, pet grooming, and animal restraint techniques Familiarity with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and veterinary critical care is advantageous Excellent animal handling skills across different species including dogs, cats, and horses when applicable Ability to communicate effectively with team members and pet owners while demonstrating compassion and professionalism Certification or licensing as a veterinary technician is a plus but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential Embark on a rewarding career where your skills directly improve the health and happiness of animals.
