Job Description:
The Opportunity We're supporting a global industrial manufacturing organisation in the search for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their machining and operations team in Columbia, KY. This position will act as a key link between Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Customer Service, and Design Engineering, driving process improvements and supporting manufacturing efficiency across a high-mix machining environment. The role offers the opportunity to work on equipment upgrades, fixture design, Lean Manufacturing initiatives, and process optimisation projects that directly impact operational performance. The Role Manufacturing Engineering Develop manufacturing methods and process sequences for machined parts and assemblies Create and optimise machining and assembly processes Design fixtures for CNC and manual machining operations Develop Standard Work documentation and SOPs Support CNC programming and tooling strategies Update MRP systems with routing and manufacturing data Continuous Improvement Lead setup reduction and Kaizen initiatives Improve process repeatability and manufacturing consistency Support workflow, plant layout, and equipment optimisation Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve throughput Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Vendors Support manufacturability reviews and production planning Assist with equipment sourcing and implementation projects Requirements Essential Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering principles Experience with machining processes and fixturing Ability to interpret technical drawings and GD&T Continuous improvement / Lean Manufacturing experience Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology CNC programming exposure Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments Experience creating Standard Work documentation What You'll Be Working On Process optimisation and manufacturing efficiency projects Fixture and tooling design Workflow and layout improvements Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives Transitioning production onto newer manufacturing equipment
