Job Description
Job Overview Norfolk County Veterinary Service is looking for a motivated and hardworking veterinary technicians to join our dedicated team of veterinarians and support staff. Various positions available including anesthesia technician, surgical technician and lab/pharmacy technicians. CVTs preferred but will consider those with 1+ years experience and will train. We have a wonderful client base and really enjoy what we do! Our brand new hospital has the newest and elite equipment. This is a full time position (40 hours) but we can be flexible for those desiring a few less hours . Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with all aspects of patient care and client education, radiology, ultrasounds, IV catheter placement and fluid administration, anesthetic monitoring and surgical preparation of patients including dental care. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with the ability to provide high-quality support in a veterinary setting. This role is essential in assisting veterinarians with various tasks, ensuring the health and well-being of our animal patients. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, providing necessary support for both routine and emergency care. Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while maintaining accurate records. Monitor animal vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the veterinarian. Assist with animal catheterization and other medical procedures as required. Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, including kennel areas. Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures for their animals. Participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance skills in veterinary medicine. Requirements Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited institution is preferred. Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, behavior, and care practices. Experience with equine care is a plus but not mandatory. Proficient in laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively. A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare.
