Job Description

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society (LTBHS) is seeking highly reliable individual to join our staff and work together to fulfill our organizational mission to sustainably and respectfully serve pets and the people who love them with compassionate, comprehensive and exemplary care. Applicants should understand this is a physically demanding position that may require standing for an 8-10 hour day, working under specific time constraints, lifting at least 40 lbs, and in all weather conditions. Working with rescue animals often requires patience, understanding, and flexibility, as their individual needs may vary significantly. The staff must truly work as a team, understanding that we share the same goal. The Shelter Medicine Technician will be responsible for tasks including but not limited to monitoring patients before, during, and after surgery, medical treatments and examinations. Shelter Medicine Technicians will have a major role in assisting in the creation and maintenance of accurate and complete medical records, preparation, and inventories of pharmeceuticals and controlled substances in accordance with LTBHS procedures. At this time we are seeking applicants with surgery assisting experience, and excellent customer service skills as they will act communication liason between the the shelter and community medicine department, other employees, fosters, volunteers, and the public. Applicants which have more than 1 year of veterinary experience but are not licensed are still encouraged to apply.
