Job Description
Certified Veterinary Technician / Licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT) Ventnor Veterinary Office - Ventnor City, NJ $18-$24+/hour (based on experience & certification) Full‑time | Part-time | Weekends as needed Ventnor Veterinary Office is a busy, privately owned small‑animal practice that has served Atlantic County for over 40 years. We are looking for a CVT/LVT who is confident in their skills, comfortable in a fast‑paced environment, and committed to providing consistent, high‑quality patient care. About Our Practice We are a structured, team‑oriented hospital with clear expectations, strong communication, and a high standard of care. Our technicians are essential to our daily workflow. You will be supported, but you will also be expected to perform at the level of your credential. We rely heavily on our technicians' medical knowledge, judgment, and ability to keep the day moving. What You'll Do You will use your full skill set here.
Responsibilities include:
Technical & Medical Skills Safe restraint of dogs and cats, including anxious or fractious patients Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement TPRs, vaccine preparation, SQ/IM/IV injections Radiology positioning, troubleshooting, and correcting poor films In‑house lab work Preparing samples for outside labs Dental prophylaxis: cleaning, polishing, charting, minor extractions (with DVM approval) Surgical assistance: anesthesia induction, monitoring, intubation/extubation, scrubbing/gowning in Understanding of drugs, dosages, fluid rates, and emergency protocols Maintaining anesthesia machines, autoclave, surgical instruments, and controlled drug logs Client Communication Obtaining accurate patient histories Educating clients on preventive care, medications, and home care Discussing estimates and treatment plans Discharging surgical/procedure patients Supporting clients during euthanasia Maintaining professionalism and compassion during high‑stress situations Hospital Operations Keeping treatment, surgery, exam rooms, and lab area clean and organized Stocking and inventory management Supporting reception and kennel staff when needed Following safety protocols, isolation procedures, and radiology guidelines Who We're Looking For Active CVT or LVT license (or eligibility to obtain) Strong technical skills and willingness to keep learning Ability to lift 30+ lbs and safely restrain animals Comfortable with fast‑paced days and shifting priorities Professional appearance and communication Reliable, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently Solid spelling, math, and medical terminology Comfortable with computers and EMRs Knowledge of IDEXX Cornerstone is a plus If you are the type of technician who jumps in, communicates clearly, and keeps the day moving — you will thrive here.
