Job Description
Job description: Full service veterinary hospital seeking a NYS licensed veterinary technician to join our team full or part time. We are a growing hospital in a 7000 sq foot facility. We offer digital x-ray, surgical and therapy laser, in-house labs, ultrasound, and dental equipment. Salary is negotiable depending on experience, skill set, and schedule. Only individuals with current NYS Veterinary Technician license will be considered for this position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Obtaining and recording complete medical histories in an electronic medical record Pet owner education and promotion of recommend vaccinations, preventative care, etc Animal handling using knowledge of animal body language and safe restraint techniques Diagnostic imaging (radiography, ultrasonography) Inducing, maintaining and monitoring anesthesia under veterinary supervision Collecting and performing laboratory tests and analysis (phlebotomy, cytology, urine and fecal collection, etc) Preparing and administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed Preparing patient prescriptions in clinic and utilization of online pharmacy platform Provide basic bath services, nail trims, ear cleanings, and anal gland expressions Provide daily feeding and cleaning of hospitalized patients Clean and disinfect kennels, equipment, exam rooms, and other areas of the facility Cross training with reception to assist with scheduling, sales transactions, etc
Qualifications:
- Animal handling experience
- Flexibility to be self-motivated to work independently or to work collaboratively as needs shift throughout the day
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable using desktop computers, laptops, tablets, etc and willing to learn new Covetrus Pulse software and utilize AI features
- Familiar with or ability to learn how to utilize Google Drive & related applications (i.e. Google Docs, Gmail)
- Willingness to work full clinic days (up to 10 hours per day)
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and veterinary terminology
- Familiar with or ability to learn use of in-house Idexx lab machines, microscopes, and centrifuges
- Familiar with or ability to learn how to use ultrasonic cleaner & autoclave for instrument sterilization
- Ability to lift and move animals as needed
Pay:
$20.00- $28.
