Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate animal care, assist veterinarians with medical procedures, and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and client service. Your expertise will help create a positive environment for pets and their owners while supporting the smooth operation of our veterinary practice. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring anesthesia. Perform animal restraint, handling, and husbandry to ensure safety and comfort for pets during treatments. Conduct laboratory work including blood draws, urinalysis, and other diagnostic tests utilizing veterinary laboratory equipment. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary protocols. Operate diagnostic radiology equipment such as X-ray machines and interpret radiology diagnostics under supervision. Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Support emergency medicine efforts by providing critical care, monitoring vital signs, and assisting in intensive care procedures during office hours. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and performing dental cleanings or extractions as needed. Prepare animals for surgery through aseptic techniques, vascular access, IV insertion, and animal catheterization. Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up needs. Skills Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and general anesthesia protocols. Experience with laboratory procedures including phlebotomy, blood sampling, and diagnostic testing. Knowledge of veterinary surgical assistance including anesthesia monitoring and critical & intensive care support. Skilled in animal restraint techniques for dogs, cats, and equines; capable of handling diverse species safely. Familiarity with medical equipment operation such as radiology machines, anesthesia monitors, and laboratory instruments. Ability to perform pet grooming and basic dog training to support overall pet well-being. Excellent client communication skills to educate pet owners on health issues and treatment plans. Competence in using veterinary software systems ( EZYVET) for record keeping and appointment scheduling. Knowledge of emergency medicine procedures to respond swiftly during critical situations involving pets in distress.
