Job Description
Otterkill Animal HospitalLicensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
Otterkill Animal Hospital is a 2-doctor AAHA accredited small animal practice in an idyllic setting in the middle of Orange County, New York. Our team is a group of lively, fun loving individuals, and we enjoy spending time with each other both in and outside of work. We often go to community events to promote ourselves, and we have hospital staff outings. We work as a team to come up with ideas for constantly improving the hospital and we face any roadblocks or changes in how we practice as a unified team with input from every level.
Our team has a passion for client education, and we make our clients a part of their pets' health care team. We believe compliance comes with understanding. In order to accomplish this, all members of our staff need to have a strong understanding of current veterinary topics and feel confident delivering accurate medical advice. Our clients develop a personal relationship with our staff and feel comforted by a friendly face and a confident voice as well as a professional attitude. That trust is maintained with dependable communication in a manner that is easily absorbable.
Low stress veterinary visits are a staple of our practice. If our patients are scared to come to us, then their owners are less likely to bring them to see us. They see the efforts we go through to give their beloved pets the best of care while managing their fears and anxieties. We enforce pre-visit medication protocols, and our clients are informed that we may need multiple visits to adjust protocols to find what works for their pets.
We are a paperless practice using Cornerstone practice software and Idexx imaging and reference labs. Our medical records have a high level of detail, and the LVTs are integral in maintaining those standards. Therefore a candidate should be comfortable learning to use a variety of software and be able to use the entire Microsoft Suite.
