Responsibilities Prepare animals for examinations and procedures through proper restraint and handling techniques, including dog handling and animal husbandry. Assist veterinarians during surgeries and diagnostic procedures such as radiology diagnostics, laboratory work, and critical & intensive care treatments. Perform laboratory tasks including phlebotomy, diagnostic testing, and sample processing using veterinary software and medical equipment. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary anesthesia monitoring and aseptic techniques. Monitor animals under anesthesia during surgical procedures, ensuring proper anesthesiology protocols are followed. Conduct animal catheterization, IV insertion, vascular access, and animal anatomy assessments with precision. Maintain detailed records of procedures performed, medication administration, and patient progress while communicating effectively with pet owners about pet care needs. Qualifications Proven veterinary technician experience or relevant veterinary experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and animal physiology. Kennel experience and pet grooming skills are a plus for handling diverse animals confidently. Familiarity with veterinary critical care, emergency medicine, and veterinary surgical assistance is highly desirable. Ability to operate diagnostic radiology equipment, X-ray machines, and other medical devices proficiently. Excellent animal handling skills including restraint techniques for dogs, cats, and other small animals; equine experience is an added advantage. Strong communication skills to provide exceptional client service and explain veterinary procedures clearly. Knowledge of veterinary software systems for record keeping and appointment scheduling. $18.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 36.0 per week
