Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence across various species, including dogs, cats, and equines, ensuring safety for both animals and staff. Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), sample collection for diagnostic testing, and operate medical equipment including radiology machines and laboratory analyzers. Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, manage IV insertions, vascular access, and animal catheterization to ensure patient stability throughout anesthesia. Support emergency medicine cases by providing critical & intensive care, administering medications, and assisting with veterinary anesthesia monitoring. Maintain accurate records using veterinary software for patient histories, treatment plans, laboratory results, and radiology diagnostics. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care instructions, treatment procedures, and post-operative care to foster trust and understanding. Qualifications Proven kennel experience combined with veterinary technician experience or similar animal care roles. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and general anesthesia protocols. Hands-on experience with dental terminology, pet grooming, dog training, and animal husbandry practices. Skilled in IV insertion, phlebotomy, radiology diagnostics (X-ray), laboratory work, and medical equipment operation. Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures including emergency medicine and intensive patient monitoring. Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques across different species; experience with equine patients is a plus.
