Overview As a Veterinary Technician with Heartland Veterinary Partners, you will be trusted with seamlessly blending patient care and client service. As the backbone of our clinical endeavors, you will support all aspects of our veterinary practice and enable us to provide veterinary care to the communities we serve. Whether educating clients, assisting in surgery, or caring for hospitalized patients, you will be at the center of all practice happenings. Role:

The Veterinary Technician assists the veterinarians and other technicians with patient care and treatment, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, prepares prescriptions, performs routine in-house laboratory work, educates clients regarding veterinary care and procedures, and assists with surgical procedures.

Clear tracking of lab specimens, medications, patient instructions, workflow, and other job-related items while managing multiple patients and clients.

Ensuring all activities and interactions result in the highest level of client satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities:

Assist the veterinarian during examination of animals, providing restraint as needed to work safely and effectively. Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, serums, and treatments, as prescribed by the veterinarian. Perform routine dental cleanings on animals under the direction of the veterinarian. Administer anesthesia to animals, under the direction of the veterinarian, and monitor animals' responses to anesthetics so that dosages can be adjusted. Obtain radiographs of animals with knowledge of proper positioning and techniques. Care for and monitor the condition of animals recovering from surgery. Perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, and feces, such as urinalyses and blood counts, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health problems. Administer emergency first aid, such as performing emergency resuscitation or other lifesaving procedures. Collect, prepare, and label samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination. Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials. Provide the veterinarian with the correct equipment and instruments, as needed. Fill prescriptions, measuring medications and labeling containers. Prepare animals for surgery, performing such tasks as shaving surgical areas and placing IV catheters. On-call for emergencies and after hour treatments once a month. Maintain clean examination rooms and treatment areas.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Ability to work on weekends as required Previous veterinary experience preferred Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE Basic math and the ability to calculate medication dosages Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc. Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety

Pay Range:
