POSITION OVERVIEW

Provides compassionate care to patients and customers.. Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees. Performs all duties in accordance with medical policies and procedures. Assists the doctor in medical, surgical and dental procedures; prepares patients for surgery; assists the doctor in administering anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids. Performs emergency procedures such as control of bleeding, resuscitation with oxygen, opening airways, and external cardiac massage. Properly cleans all surgical materials after they are used; keeps the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery. Admits and discharges patients on the doctor's orders, ensuring that patients are well groomed and in a medically appropriate state. Counsels clients on various aspects of animal care; explains dosage/purpose of medications; reinforces the proper care & procedures that should be followed at home; makes follow-up calls to clients. Gives injections and administers oral medications in accordance with clinic policy. Performs clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures; draws blood for laboratory analysis; maintains files of lab test results and ensures that test results are recorded in patient records. Understand and carry out clinic administrative procedures such as: scheduling appointments, delivering excellent customer service, operating point of sale (POS) systems for client check out, and other administrative duties as assigned. Assists other staff members as required & performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
High School-Junior or Senior (w/ STRONG letters of recommendations- REQUIRED) High school diploma or equivalent. Associates or Undergraduate degree desirable, but not required. Veterinary Technician Certification desirable, but not required.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No experience is necessary- at TVCCOT we offer on-the-job training opportunities to individuals who share our passion for & want to start a career in the veterinary profession. Individuals w/experience OR who hold a degree in higher education are highly desirable.PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
Genuinely enjoys working w/animals & able to cope when they are stressed, ill, or in pain. Can stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis or high volume workdays. Is dedicated to a teamwork approach and works well with all staff members. Has excellent customer service & communication skills and is able to handle customer interactions with care, courtesy, and kindness. Strong efficiency and attention to detail in all tasks. Bilingual (English-Spanish Speaker) isHIGHLY DESIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT & WORKING CONDITIONS
Able to assist in properly lifting and carrying animals over 50 lbs. Able to walk or stand for extended periods of time; and able to work in a bent position periodically to care for animals. May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, animal discharges, to bites, scratches, and other animal handling conditions.WORK HOURS/ SCHEDULE
Staff work times range from 6:30 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday, and on Saturday from 7:30 am to 5 pm. Scheduling is for full-time employees.Job Type:
