The ideal candidate is comfortable working hands-on with dogs and cats, has strong technical skills, and enjoys working in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will work closely with our veterinarian and team to provide high-quality patient care while creating a positive and supportive experience for pet owners. Responsibilities Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats for examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures. Perform venipuncture and collect blood, urine, fecal, and other diagnostic samples. Place and maintain IV catheters. Administer medications, injections, vaccines, and treatments under veterinarian supervision. Prepare patients and surgical areas for procedures. Assist veterinarians during surgical and dental procedures. Set up, clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment. Monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery, including heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygenation, temperature, and other appropriate parameters. Assist with dental cleanings and dental radiographs when trained. Perform and process in-house laboratory testing, including CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, fecal testing, cytology, and other diagnostic procedures. Assist with digital radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures. Provide nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients. Monitor patient comfort, appetite, urination, defecation, temperature, and overall clinical status. Maintain clean and comfortable kennels, treatment areas, surgical areas, and hospital workspaces. Accurately document patient history, treatments, medications, and communications in the veterinary medical record. Review medication instructions, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and post-operative care with clients. Assist with prescription preparation and inventory management as needed. Support front desk and client-service responsibilities when needed. Follow hospital protocols for patient safety, infection control, controlled medications, and proper handling of medical materials. Qualifications and Skills Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistant, or in a veterinary clinical setting preferred. Strong dog and cat handling and restraint skills. Experience with blood draws and IV catheter placement strongly preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, basic anatomy, and common veterinary procedures. Experience assisting with surgery and anesthesia monitoring preferred. Experience with laboratory equipment and in-house diagnostic testing preferred. Dental assisting and dental radiography experience is a plus. Ability to accurately calculate medication doses and follow veterinarian instructions. Comfortable using veterinary practice-management software and basic computer programs. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate medical records. Excellent communication and customer-service skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy veterinary environment. Compassionate, dependable, professional, and willing to learn.
