Full job description Overview Urban Trails Animal Hospital is a new practice built in 2024. We are a full service veterinary hospital We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team- full or part time. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and handling, with the ability to provide high-quality support in a veterinary setting. We offer very competitive pay and benefits. Our clients are loyal, friendly and are committed to the health of their pets. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures. Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging, including X-rays. Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed. Monitor animal vital signs and behavior during procedures. Provide proper restraint for animals during examinations and treatments. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and health management. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennel areas. Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical preparations and procedures. Skills The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Previous veterinary technician experience Proficiency in venipuncture IV catheter placement Knowledge of animal husbandry principles to ensure optimal care Experience in veterinary critical care situations Laboratory experience for conducting tests and analyses Anesthesia induction and monitoring General veterinary experience, including familiarity with veterinary terminology. Proficient in dog and cat handling techniques for various breeds Radiographs Skills in animal catheterization and restraint methods Dental prophylaxis Reading cytology
