We are looking for a Kennel Technician who shares our passion for animals and excellent customer service. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring that all animals in our care are safe, comfortable, and well-cared for. Position Overview As a Kennel Technician, you will oversee the daily operations of the kennel area, ensuring that the animals in our care receive the highest standard of service. Your role will include managing the care of boarding pets, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for both animals and staff. You will work closely with our veterinary technicians, veterinarians, and groomers to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Animal Care & Custodial Duties:
Feed, provide fresh water, administer medications (including injectables), and follow specific schedules for all dogs and cats in the kennel.Walks & Exercise:
Regularly walk dogs and clean litter boxes, ensuring all pets get the exercise and attention they need.Patient Monitoring:
Keep a watchful eye on patients in daycare and boarding, ensuring they are comfortable and reporting any changes in behavior or health to the veterinary team.Grooming Support:
Assist the groomer with bathing, brushing, and nail trimming for both dogs and cats.Team Collaboration:
Work alongside veterinary technicians, veterinarians, and the rest of the kennel staff to provide seamless care for all animals.Facility Maintenance:
Maintain a clean and sanitary environment by cleaning cages, doing laundry, and ensuring the hospital premises are tidy.Client Interaction:
Provide facility tours for clients and answer questions confidently about the services we offer.Animal Handling:
Recognize and interpret pet body language, handling them in a safe, calm, and compassionate manner.Medical Alerts:
Notify veterinary technicians and doctors when boarding pets require medical attention or show signs of distress.Qualifications:
Previous experience in a kennel or animal care setting is required. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. safely and comfortably. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism. Compassionate, patient, and comfortable handling a variety of animals, including dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments. Excellent communication skills, both with clients and team members.
