Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring all protocols are followed with precision. Prepare animals for procedures by performing animal restraint, administering medications, and establishing vascular access such as IV insertions. Conduct laboratory work including phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and veterinary laboratory tests to support accurate diagnoses. Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, anesthesia monitors, and radiology diagnostics with attention to safety and accuracy. Monitor animals under anesthesia during surgical procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques and veterinary anesthesia protocols. Manage pet care tasks including animal husbandry, feeding, cleaning kennels, and ensuring proper animal physiology monitoring. Assist with emergency medicine cases by providing critical & intensive care support, including medication administration and IV catheterization. Skills Proven kennel experience with strong animal husbandry skills to ensure clean, comfortable environments for patients. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary surgical procedures. Experience with dental terminology and assisting in dental procedures or cleanings. Skilled in animal handling techniques for dogs, cats, horses (equine experience), and other species requiring specialized care. Competent in laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and veterinary laboratory work. Familiarity with medical equipment operation including X-ray machines, anesthesia monitors, and radiology diagnostics. Strong client communication skills to effectively explain treatments and foster trust with pet owners. Must be flexible with scheduling hours. Shifts include 7a-2p, 2p-7p, 9a-6p and some 7a-7a shifts. Work some weekends, Saturdays 8a-1p, and kennel duties as well. Pay is based off experience.
