Tuesday/Wednesday 7AM-4:30PM, Thursday/Friday 7AM-4PM, Saturday 7-10 AM One weekend day required as part of the animal feeding staff rotation About the Role The Binding Site VT (Thermo Fisher Scientific) specializes in the production of polyclonal antibodies, primarily in sheep, and operates a USDA-registered sheep farm and laboratory in Benson, Vermont. This full-time position participates in all aspects of animal husbandry and welfare across two farm sites. The role works both independently and as part of a team to support animal care and welfare while following USDA, IACUC, Animal Welfare Act, health and safety, animal welfare procedures, and company policies and standards. What You'll Do Carry out daily feeding regimes for all animals on the farm Perform routine and non-routine animal treatments Participate in animal sorting and movement activities Herd and transfer animals between farm sites Participate in the breeding and lambing program Assist in maintaining housing buildings to USDA standards Work with the Attending Veterinarian when required Complete records daily and accurately Support the welfare and maintenance of animals, housing areas, and production areas Manually handle animals Follow treatment policies and maintain current procedures Support animal welfare across two farm locations Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work on a USDA-registered sheep farm and laboratory site Work outdoors in various weather conditions Wear required PPE, including items such as safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, and ear plugs Dependable and reliable with the ability to work in changing farm conditions Flexible due to the unexpected nature of working with animals and on a farm Lift up to 50 pounds (+/-) Perform lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling activities Perform reaching, twisting, and turning movements Walk on uneven, wet, and slippery surfaces Able to lift 40 pounds without assistance What We're Looking For High school diploma Knowledge and experience working with livestock Knowledge and experience with breeding/lambing Valid driver's license required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills Ability to communicate effectively at all levels Ability to work in a team environment Ability to multitask and prioritize workloads Ability to proactively solve problems Attention to detail Ability to work autonomously Benefits & Additional Details Eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance Medical, dental, and vision coverage Employee assistance and family support programs Commuter benefits and tuition reimbursement At least 120 hours of PTO and 10 paid holidays annually Paid parental leave Accident, life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance 401(k) retirement savings plan Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
