Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment. Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during treatments or diagnostics. Collect blood samples, perform phlebotomy, administer medications, and monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures using veterinary anesthesia monitoring techniques. Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, laboratory analyzers, and other diagnostic radiology devices. Conduct laboratory work including sample processing, diagnostic testing, and maintaining accurate records within veterinary software systems. Manage animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, grooming, cleaning kennels, and ensuring proper animal care standards are upheld. Support emergency medicine cases by assisting with critical & intensive care procedures, vascular access (IV insertion), and animal catheterization as needed. Maintain detailed records of treatments, medication administration, and client communications to ensure compliance with veterinary protocols. Assist with pet grooming and dog training activities to promote overall pet health and behavior management when applicable. Skills Proven kennel experience combined with animal husbandry skills that demonstrate your ability to care for diverse species including dogs, cats, and equines. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures such as general anesthesia and veterinary critical care. Skilled in IV insertion, vascular access techniques, animal restraint methods, and aseptic techniques to prevent infection during procedures. Experience operating diagnostic radiology equipment like X-ray machines and performing radiology diagnostics with precision. Familiarity with veterinary laboratory work including phlebotomy and sample analysis using veterinary software systems. Excellent dog handling skills along with pet grooming knowledge to support comprehensive pet care services. Ability to communicate effectively with clients about pet health concerns while demonstrating empathy and professionalism in all interactions. Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols to assist in urgent situations requiring veterinary anesthesia or intensive care support.
