Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Engineer Internship

Job Description

Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Engineer Internship Scot Forge Company is looking to hire an Engineering student with a focus in NDE for an internship in the Summer of 2027 at the corporate facility in Spring Grove, IL. An NDE Engineering internship at Scot Forge will provide a variety of experiences and exposure to the NDE profession. This intern will be supporting the NDE team through hands-on inspections and research project work. This internship is based in Spring Grove, IL and includes occasional travel to the Clinton, WI and Franklin Park, IL manufacturing plants.
Anticipated Projects include:
Research to improve consistency in acoustic properties between large forgings and Ultrasonic calibration standards. Develop and implement best practices for collaboration between Scot Forge and Robotic UT supplier. Design and execute a comprehensive study to determine how surface finish impacts Ultrasonic testing. Assist Level 3 NDE's to draft and implement process controls for Immersion UT Research study to catalogue shear wave velocities for specialty allows.
Qualifications:
Required Skills Minimum Junior year standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline with a NDE focus/minor Experience using Microsoft Office applications Knowledge of reading and interpreting technical drawings or specifications Proficiency in SolidWorks (or other 3D modeling software) Demonstrated project management skills Preferred Skills Experience with technical writing Application of NDE Methods Exposure to programming languages such as python Familiarity with Waygate ultrasonic flaw detectors

The estimated pay range for this position is the lowest and highest range we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We ultimately may pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. The actual base pay offered to a candidate will depend on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, geographic location and prevailing minimum wage, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
