Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Infection Prevention Nurse to lead our infection control initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience, including critical care, hospital, or trauma center backgrounds, and demonstrate a strong understanding of infectious disease management, epidemiology, and healthcare safety standards. This role offers an opportunity to impact patient safety directly by implementing effective infection prevention strategies across our facility. Duties Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive infection prevention and control policies aligned with healthcare regulations such as OSHA and HIPAA. Conduct regular audits of clinical practices to ensure adherence to aseptic techniques, sanitation protocols, and safety standards. Educate staff on infection control procedures, including microbiology principles, epidemiology updates, and proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Oversee patient observation and monitoring to identify early signs of infection or outbreaks, ensuring prompt intervention. Collect and analyze data related to infection rates, compiling reports for management and regulatory agencies. Review medical records and documentation to verify compliance with infection control protocols and improve care plans accordingly. Lead investigations into infection incidents or outbreaks, coordinating with management to implement corrective actions. Qualifications Proven nursing experience with a focus on infectious disease care within acute care settings such as hospitals or trauma centers; Level I or Level II trauma center experience is highly desirable. Strong background in microbiology, epidemiology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to infection prevention. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing teams or projects related to infection control or public health initiatives. Familiarity with data management systems (MDS knowledge preferred), medical records review, and documentation review processes. Knowledge of OSHA standards, HIPAA regulations, and healthcare safety practices including aseptic technique and patient monitoring procedures. Excellent communication skills for staff training and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to analyze complex data sets related to infection trends and develop actionable strategies for improvement.
