Job Description
Whately Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Assistant to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to support students in the general education classroom environment.
The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping all students achieve their full potential.
ResponsibilitiesAssist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
Provide small group instruction in various subject areas (e.g., literacy, math).Help manage classroom behavior and create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non-instructional times.
Support the implementation of classroom routines and procedures.
Assist with classroom organization and maintenance.
Work individually with students with disabilities to implement IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals under the direction of the special education teacher and lead teacher.
Help students develop self-advocacy skills and independence.
Collaborate with the special education teacher, lead teacher, and other support staff to ensure consistent and effective support.
Foster a positive and supportive relationship with the student.
Associates Degree or higher, preferred.
Experience working with children, preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Must pass a CORI check.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.Associates Degree or higher, preferred.
Experience working with children, preferred.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
